The first soulfulness Eddies meets in heaven is the sacrilegious man, who had worked at ruby pier freak show. While talking to the blue man Eddies remembers that he is dead. Eddie is responsible for the blue mans death. When Eddie was young he was playing catch with his friend while a car was riding pass. The ball went into the street as the blue man was coming down the street. Eddie went after the ball causing the blue man to turn his car in another direction and crash. Eddie learns his first lesson which is that there are no random events in life and all populate are connected in life.
The second person Eddie meets in heaven is the captain from the army. The captain reminds Eddie of their time in the army. Eddie later remembers him chasing a shadow that he saw. His captain admits that he shot Eddie in the leg to restrain Eddie from chasing the shadow in the fire.
Thats how Eddie ended up being crippled. Eddie now learned his second lesson about the importance of people willingness to make sacrifices for others.
The third person Eddie meets in heaven is ruby. reddish tells Eddie that the park ruby pier was named after her and she was the waitress at the diner. Ruby husband was killed trying to fight the fire that happened at ruby pier. Ruby took Eddie to the diner which was where his father was. Ruby teaches Eddie to bother his anger and forgive his father to all the trouble and blemish he caused.
