In my book report I am training about John Cabot so to start off I will tell you who john Cabot is. In December 18, 1497, Raimondi di Soncino wrote a letter to the duke of Milan, a city in what is now Italy. His conclude was to arrange business deals that favored Milan. In this letter, Sonicino sh ares news he had heard about a remarkable English ocean voyage commanded by a fellow Italian, John Cabot. as well as in the letter, Soncino calls Cabot by his Italian name, Zonanne Caboto, and describes him as a gentlemans gentleman who is very expert in navigation. Sonicno wrote that in May of 1497, Cabot sailed from Bristol, England, with a crew of 18 men. After stopping in Ireland, his light ship continued westward and slightly north.
After roving for a long time, Cabot finally returned, claiming incredible discoveries. For instance, Cabot reported glide into uncharted waters brimming with fish. The crew had further to unhorse a basket and pull up the big catch. Cabot withal had sighted new lands, waded ashore, and claimed them for England. These new lands, according to Cabot, were excellent places and plumb warm. He even thought silk could be represent here. Soncino grew stirred in his letter. He told the duke that Cabots runner voyage was only the beginning.



Cabot planned to sail even farther west until he reached an island Cipango which is not Japan. Cabot believes that all the spices of the world, as well as jewels, are found. Sonicino told the duke that Cabot could be right. The king of England himself, Henry VII, had already offered to supply ships for Cabots next voyage. The success of his adventure took years of preparation. The new found land he discovered in 1497 was Englands first claim in the new world. Cabot was a citizen of Venice who moved to the English city of Bristol about 1494. We know more about his kit and caboodle as an explorer for England than about his earlier life as a merchant, navigator, and mapmaker.
