For many years, advertisings have been displayed on television, buses, in magazines, and virtually everywhere, you go. These advertisements ar seen by billions of people each day and are meant to exchange some kind of service or product. However, in directlys society these advertisements do more than just exertion to sell goods and services; they, in my opinion, show expectations of how women should look and act. Since I, myself am a threatened and young women, I believe that it is amiss(p) for companies to make expectations of women in the ads that they produce. These advertisements reflect the social expectations surrounding sex activity and affect me personally as a woman.
There are many different theories in sociology to rationalise the reasoning tramp different phenomenons. One theory I used to explain what I believe is right and wrong in the advertisement industry is the conflict theory. According to Richard Schaeffer, the conflict theory says that social behavior is described in terms of tension mingled with different competing groups (Schaeffer 15). The two competing groups in my essay are women and the advertisement industry. The advertisement industry believes that it is okay and moral to portray women as objects rather than as subjects (Kilbourne).



They depict them as dainty, passive and vulnerable and most women really have no say in how they are being portrayed since it is their occupation (Kilbourne). The advertising caller is a total institution in that it regulates every issue a women employer does under just a single berth (Schaeffer 62). They regulate everything from a womans body propose to the way they act in public. They make women seem slight important, as if they are just sex objects that tend to men, save they maintain the privileges of some groups, like men. Erving Goffman concluded in 1979 that women are constantly subordinated to men in a variety of veritable situations, relating them not as equals but as children to parent (Goffman).
