COURSE TEXT

Basics of Communication (custom ASU text).

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course provides an overview of the heterogeneous disciplines of discourse: intrapersonal, interpersonal, small free radical and public communication.

It is also knowing to enable you to become a more efficient and good communicator.





Students bequeath have the opportunity to:

Begin to understand phraseology and theory;
Become aware of themselves and others in communication interactions;
change magnitude listening ability;
Learn to use language more effectively;
Gain greater sensitivity to the nonverbal aspects of communication;
Develop interpersonal skills;
Interact in small group settings with increasing effectiveness;
Exercise public speaking skills;
bear interviewing skills;
Improve competence as communicators.


COURSE PARTICIPATION AND REQUIREMENTS

Attendance in this year is imperative. You cant improve your communication skills if you arent in class communicating. Beyond 4 absences your final grade will be lowered by 10 POINTS per EACH additional absence. Absences will be excuse only for documented illnesses, family emergencies and officially sanctioned university activities. Documentation may not come from friends or relatives. I will contract you once you have missed more than 6 classes, whether excuse or unexcused absences.
