I liked the visual lectures and reading, so I chose Shon Harris’ videos series (2007). She covers the 10 domains rattling well. The best part is she talks about the actual application of the training. This is very good in fact critical! I also read her All-in-One guard (AIO), 4th edition, ISBN: 978-0-07-149787-9, and the Sybex book, 4th edition, ISBN: 978-0-470-27688-4. The Sybex book was beautiful because it added terms and details and explained some things that AIO did not. I also supplemented this information with information from the internet. Please note this: don’t channel missed researching what protocol is at which ISO layer. You will find that the answers go away and you will lose a lot of time lost in the details.
Shon’s book is good, hardly you cannot select and chump anything because of its Adobe archive protection settings. This is not good if you lack to cut and paste notes to a file or release out a chart to review and annotate. Additionally the AIO book’s index and glossary are abysmal. She should have chartered a professional tech writer. Finally the book on the CD-ROM is simply terrible.
Each chapter is stored as an individual PDF file so you cannot perform a search of the entire book to see all that is said on a item subject. One redeeming point was that every so frequently she would inject some humor at unexpected places. This helps.
Shon’s online flash cards are about $20 for three hundred questions – No really worth the money and you must personate at a computer to take the tests.
