Dee has already indicated her dislike of her aim and her sister's living arrangements by saying she will go find out them wherever they "choose" to live (30). In making this assertion Dee seems to not acknowledge or be grateful for on the building block the hard work and hardship her family and community went through hardly to get one person, Dee, to school, and so capable of moving on to a better life.

Dee's schooling, instead of creating a person who would be willing to give back to the community that helped her, has given her crimson more reason to be discontent with her family and peers.
