They spent a large trade union of money on unsuccessfully scarting up a secret lab to make CG films the 2 films that were delivered failed to make the grade. They did not have the cutting edge technology or the endowment fund required to match Pixars efforts and the lab was abandoned. In 2003 they did set up a CG animation department but by then morale was low, re-training expensive and tension within the studio apartment apartment mounted. The result being that after Chicken Little the 2 remaining projects were pushed back up. Revenue at this clock was increasingly climax from Pixar harvestions. The investment needed for Disney to compete on top of the injustice of Pixars earnings would mean that it would be a long time before Disney would really be able to compete. In the meanwhile Pixar would have no doubt struck up a deal with another distribution partner such as paramount which would create an additional competitor to Disney. Disneys general revenues relied on good animated characters and films to drive the ancillary product sales to potentially wait for years to develop the technology, b bump stories and characters ( if Disney could achieve this themselves) would be peril that could potentially ruin Disney.
